RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review and analyze patents and draft responses and arguments to Office Actions received on pending United States patent applications. After showing proficiency in Office Action responses, draft patent applications related to Lexmark products for filing in the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Must be able to effectively communicate with inventors and attorneys in English both in writing and orally.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Engineering degree, preferably in Electronics or Mechanical Engineering. Will also consider qualified applicants with an electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, chemistry or chemical engineering background.Work Experience: 1-5 years as an engineer. Having worked as a technical writer or patent agent or written technical operations manuals are pluses.Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Visio.Ability and desire to speak and write in English. Enjoys technical analysis and writing.Capable of multi-tasking effectively. Desires to learn U.S. patent laws and regulations.Inquisitive - likes to ask questions on how or why things work. Understands various types of technology.Willingness to learn about other technologies. Pays attention to detail.Working knowledge of Lexmark’s products and how electrophotographic and/or inkjet printers work and what a patent is are pluses.
