Based out of our Fort McMurray location, the Contracts Manager, Mining will lead and manage Contract Management specific activities, minimizing risk during the development of contracts, managing services supply contracts and managing contract compliance.

Reporting to the Mining Category Manager, this role will also support sourcing initiatives and the development of improved Supply Chain processes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
·  Establish individual performance targets for direct report(s) aligned with the overall Major Petro Star Mount  Supply Chain organization objectives
·  Provide feedback to individual direct reports on their individual performance, facilitating employee development and providing coaching on Contract Management processes and procedures
·  Co-ordinate and facilitate the interaction of the site Contracts team and other departments and engineering disciplines
·  Monitor and report annual objectives for the respective project in accordance with Petro Star Mount  Supply Chain objectives (e.g. cost reduction, supplier meetings, etc.)
·  Responsible to obtain the lowest total cost of ownership, while minimizing the risk to Petro Star Mount through the development, execution, and subsequent closure of supply contracts
·  Identify and recommend potential improvements to existing contract templates
·  Participate on cross-functional sourcing teams taking responsibility for translating Petro Star Mount  business requirements and negotiated outcomes into a supply contract
·  Manage the contract formation cycle
·  Develop execution plans for site supply chain contracting plans
·  Develop the supply contract utilizing approved contract templates
·  Manage approvals process, vetting and signing or escalating as necessary
·  Engage Petro Star Mount  Legal department for contract development and management activities in accordance with Petro Star Mount  policy, namely utilization of contract language outside of the approved templates
·  Manage, respond to, and if appropriate escalate, all internal and external contract inquires
·  Provide guidance, coaching, and support to internal customers with regards to Contract Management activities
·  Monitor both Petro Star Mount  and supplier’s performance related to contract terms
·  Manage the contract close-out process for the respective supply contracts
·  Regularly review up to date research and material on suppliers, drivers, and changes to the market
·  Ensure proper document storage and retention of all contract documents
·  Ensure the contract change request process is followed when triggered
·  Manage the warranty claim process
·  Resolve issues escalated by users and / or suppliers as it relates to contract management and provide recommended solutions for issues requiring leadership support
·  Participate in Supplier Relationship Management activities when requested
·  Develop specific contracting strategies with workable and beneficial incentive programs for both Petro Star Mount  and contractors, ensuring performance-monitoring criteria are clearly identified
·  Provide historical information related to a supplier(s) contract compliance and performance to the appropriate resources during the sourcing process
·  Assemble, correlate and maintain contract records for the purpose of administering site contracts and for preparing claims defence cases

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
·  A Business, Engineering or Supply Chain related degree from a recognized institution
·  A minimum of seven years related progressive Supply Chain Management experience, with a particular emphasis on contracts management
·  A minimum of three years experience with team leadership
·  Experience with Mining activities is considered an asset
·  Experience in Oil & Gas industry preferred
·  Demonstrated experience in the delivery of creative and innovative approaches to contract negotiation and other Supply Chain Management disciplines
·  A willingness to learn new skills and work both independently and in a team environment
·  Strong interpersonal communication (both written and oral) skills
·  Strong analytical and problem solving skills
·  Strong experience with SAP and Excel is required
·  Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage their time appropriately
·  Experience in an EPC or Project environment would be an asset
