1. Manage the team of Control & Automation and Electrical Discipline Engineers and Technical Integrity Engineer
2. Be the Technical Authority (TA2) Discipline Engineer for one the Disciplines
• Team leader for the identified disciplines and Technical Integrity
• Compliance with GOAL ZERO, Life Saving Rules and the company Operational Excellence Standard
• Be accountable for the relevance and effectiveness of the assurance activities specified in the Performance Standards of Safety Critical Elements.
• Own discipline maintenance strategies. Single point accountable for their effectiveness e.g: define tasks, measures that need to be made, review results, carry out sample field checks that task execution is effective.
• Manage allocated contracts as sponsor / focal point – roles separately defined. Prepare scope of work / contract strategies for minor ad-hoc contracts.
• Provide TA approvals to : Deviation Control, SAP, MOC, Competency Unit Standards, equipment, vendors, workshop procedures, use of standards etc.
• Apply Business Improvement techniques (including LEAN and Root Cause Analysis) to all aspects of the role to drive improvements in safety, technical Integrity, reliability, availability, financial management; to minimise waste and maximise business benefit.
• Responsible for allocated suite of Discipline Documents (e.g. COPs) – ensure they are fit for purpose and up to date.
• Discipline input to minor engineering changes. Discipline support throughout design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Mentor discipline engineer development positions. Responsible to maintain and track any discipline development plans throughout the company.
• Prepare a plan for discipline activities for entry into the annual maintenance execution plan and be accountable for progress against this.
• Attend site, morning calls on a regular basis to be familiar with all discipline related equipment and operations issues. Provide a “sense check” on the non routine work arising.
• Keep abreast of breakdowns and pro-actively challenge how to reduce/ eliminate, initiate required changes to maintenance procedures or equipment as required.
• Responsible to ensure that the discipline follows international / Group / national norms, rules, (best) practices.
• Discipline assessment of the suitability of contractors, suppliers and types of equipment.
• Lead investigations / RCA teams into selected items, follow through results.
• Network within Region and Global discipline group to keep awareness of regional discipline best practices, regional services available etc.
• Provide input to reports, audits, and regional requests etc.
• Hold occasional discipline forums to discuss issues of general interest and promote teambuilding.
