Labels: , , ,

Peace Corps Response provides opportunities for Returned Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) and experienced professionals to undertake challenging, short-term assignments in various program areas around the world. Qualified applicants can put their professional skills and academic training to work as Peace Corps Response Volunteers, where they will gain additional international experience while imparting technical expertise critical for partner organizations and the communities they serve.

A Peace Corps Response Volunteer is needed to serve as a Livelihood Agriculture Specialist for the Bahay Tuluyan organization. Bahay Tuluyan was founded in 1987 in response to the growing number of street children in the Manila area. Bahay Tuluyan has developed various alternative education programs for street children over the years, and strives to protect and empower them through education.

Bahay Tuluyan has developed a fundraising plan in order to lessen its reliance on international funding agencies. This plan includes a variety of self-reliance programs including raising goats and producing dairy products. A PCRV is needed to help Bahay Tuluyan develop a functional system for running the goat farm, and hold meetings with staff on the new fundraising plans. The Volunteer will work side-by-side with a core group of staff and children to develop and implement a milk processing system and training manual. The Volunteer will then conduct training sessions for staff on the new system. The PCRV will also demonstrate methods and techniques for goat-raising in order to combat the current high mortality rate of the goats.
